Nuclear Energy: Who is drumming up all the interest?

You've probably all been hearing about nuclear energy is supposed to be a panacea for our energy needs. The main argument is that nuclear is "carbon free." Despite the many researchers have proven that Solar and Wind can scale as quickly with less cost and NO toxic waste, it keeps coming up. Is it perhaps because the big power lobbies are scared to lose their grip on a centralized grid. Just think of the billions in revenue lost of everyone took power into their own hands, buying solar panels or micro-wind turbines. What do you think? Do you find this valuable?
